As both a photojournalist and as a wedding and portrait photographer, Brian Nicholson’s passion lies in storytelling.  Over the years, he has documented stories of people and places all across the country as well as overseas. He first got his start with an internship at the Standard-Examiner newspaper which turned into a staff position where he worked for seven years, followed by another five years at the Deseret News in Salt Lake City. Nicholson has also worked as a freelance photographer and has been published in numerous regional and national news outlets including the New York Times, Associated Press, USA Today and many others.

The I AM OGDEN project was created to showcase the lives of the people of Ogden, Utah. He considers it to be one of his boldest artistic ventures. The goal of this collection of portraits is to show the city’s unique personality through the personalities and individuals who live, work and play in Ogden. The portraits include a wide range of personalities, from high political figures to the homeless, from rich investors to students, artists, dreamers and the working class, glimpses of the past intertwined with the hope of the future.
